Nofika Alecxia Mahlakanyana is the SABP's parliamentary candidate applicant for Rural Development, Community Development Workers, Housing and Urban Development.
Nofika has a Diploma in Social Empowerment and Community Development
She runs her own training centre and would like to take training to rural communities.
Nofika is perturbed by the fact that most development takes place in urban areas.

She states that the Department of Labour has the funding to skill people in project-based programs.

Nofika adds that the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Department Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC Mike Mabuyakhulu has approved many housing projects in rural communities in areas like Mtubatuba and Empangeni, but that the local people are not benefiting in terms of employment.

She suggests that people must be skilled so that they can build houses and get paid a good salary for skilled labour rather than for simply mixing mortar.

She would like the voice of rural communities to be heard by the present Government.

Nofika has skills and experience in starting and completing big projects. She is good at advising rural municpalities on how they can skill local people and create employment for them.

In 2003, Nofika obtained a Certificate in Communication from the Vuleka Trust, Hillcrest, completing the following courses:

  • Conflict Management
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Basic Human Relations
  • Mediation Skills
  • Customer Services Skills
  • Designing of Educational Events
  • Assessor course with level 5 accredited by: National Qualification Frame

She has also earned a Certificate in Business Management from the KZN Business Training Centre.

    Nofika's current voluntary work includes:
    - Advising local ward committees in terms of community development.
    - Advising housing NGOs in terms of ensuring that all the beneficiaries are in need of houses before they are allocated to houses.
    - Encouraging women participation in community developments including HIV/AIDS programs.
    - Women empowerment in rural communities.

To relax, Nofika enjoys watching soccer or listening to gospel music.

"I am a very hard-working and dedicated person who always wants to see other people benefiting in everything that I do.

"I believe in these words: WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. If you love people and do what is good for them, all what you do will come back to you.

"My objective is to advance the national programme in poverty alleviation through imparting skills to needy people whilst their other needs such as housing and jobs are being met.

"I am honest, dedicated and ambitious, striving for the upliftment of the people in our country."

Vote SABP in 2009, if you want to see Nofika in Parliament representing our rural development, community worker, and housing needs, working for and helping you!

    Vote SABP!
